Ji is still determining his research focus, but is interested in FMCW (frequency modulated continuous wave) radar applications for remote sensing of the seasonal snowpack and determinations of snow strength. Prior to joining CryoGARS, Ji worked in the avalanche safety industry in Utah and guided rock and ice climbing and mountaineering in Alaska and Vermont. He received his bachelor's degree at McGill University in 2024, where he studied GIS & Remote Sensing, and International Development. When not in the field or at the lab, he enjoys being extremely mediocre at too many hobbies, including climbing, skiing, guitar and singing, and pottery.
