Visiting Ph.D. Student
After completing a Master’s degree in Bioscience Engineering: Land, Water, and Climate, Jaron started a PhD in the Hydro-Climate Extremes Lab at Ghent University as part of the WAVETRAX project. His research investigates how active microwave remote sensing responds to snowpack properties and snow processes, with the aim of improving our understanding of surface dynamics at sub-daily timescales.
Jaron focuses on characterizing snow depth, snow water equivalent, and processes such as wind redistribution, melt–freeze events, rain-on-snow, and snow metamorphism. His work combines field experiments with physically based snowpack modeling, radiative transfer simulations, and machine learning techniques.
Currently, he is hosted by the Cryosphere Geophysics and Remote Sensing (CryoGARS) group at Boise State University, whose support greatly enhances the field and modeling components of his research.
